The collaborative exhibition project »Sea Salt Troubled Waters« by the two Hamburg-based French artists "Fox Albra" Fabien Bidaut and "lafleur" Julien Fleurance Sigismeau is dedicated to a decolonial reflection on various forms of appropriation - cultural, ecological, symbolic and material. In their work, the two artists connect worlds that are essentially separated by invisible borders, symbolically creating "troubled waters" that serve as a metaphor for exchange, conflict and silent solidarity. At the heart of the duo's presentation is a critical examination of colonialism, an outdated ideology that continues to damage not only cultures, but the entire reality of life through exploitation.
"Fox Albra" and "lafleur" question the division between so-called "civilised" and "savage" thinking, defining this hierarchical construction as the key to a deeper understanding of our history and present. The works on display are based on intensive field research, archival studies and conversations, and give rise to a shared collective fiction. Through critical cartographies and performative installations, the two artists convey an idea of the "commons": a space where collective co-ownership and shared resources replace individual ownership, and where the system of relationships between people who share this resource is highly valued.
